Counsel #7 — Work With Your Church

Picture: Counsel #7 — Work With Your ChurchCCL 62.1

Figuring out where you belong in life, including within the church, can be challenging. However, considering what you're already good at is an excellent starting point. God has given different skills and callings to people so they can use them to benefit His church.[89]https://www.ministrymagazine.org/archive/2020/02/Five-levels-of-commitment-and-how-they-affect-the-local-church These gifts often appear first in our personal lives, careers, and achievements. Are you skilled at giving public presentations? Most aren’t, but maybe you would excel in a more technical background role. If you're unsure where you might fit, why not reach out to a pastor or elder? They can help you explore how to contribute to the church's mission of witnessing and sharing Jesus with others.CCL 62.2

“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” Ephesians 4:11, 12CCL 62.3

“All who have been benefited by the labors of God's servant should, according to their ability, unite with him in working for the salvation of souls. This is the work of all true believers, ministers and people. They should keep the grand object ever in view, each seeking to fill his proper position in the church, and all working together in order, harmony, and love.” Ellen White in Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 238.1CCL 62.4

Reflect: Is there something you’re good at that God might call you to use for Him? If you’re unsure, consider listing some of your skills and talents and share them with a local church leader to see how you could serve. CCL 62.5
