Counsel #7 — Unveiling Injustice Inside Us

Picture: Counsel #7 — Unveiling Injustice Inside UsCSI 26.1

Sometimes we can be blind to injustice within our own hearts. Initially our sense of right and wrong is impacted by biological, cultural, social, developmental and personal elements. We may think we’re a good person, have the right motives, do and say the right things, but as we continue to learn, grow, and adapt to new experiences and information, our ignorance cannot be excused. Good intentions do not absolve us from the hurt we inflict on others.CSI 26.2

The gravest injustice is indifference. When we witness racial injustice, Scripture compels us to address the offender privately.[60]A conversation initiated by a racial peer may increase the likelihood of a productive conversation. If the offender is a true disciple of Christ, they will embrace this opportunity to ask for God’s forgiveness, correct their behavior and reflect Christ's love by making amends.[61]https://youtu.be/H41f6v91G6o?si=-VaGSEnGPmX1z0kZCSI 26.3

“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.” Matthew 18:15 NIVCSI 26.4

“They believe that the precepts which enjoin love to others should be observed; but they treat their associates with cold indifference, and sometimes with injustice.... They do not carry the work of repentance far enough. The sense of their wrong should lead them to seek God most earnestly for power to reveal Christ by kindness and forbearance. Ellen White in To Be Like Jesus, p. 201CSI 26.5

Reflect: Have you ever witnessed racism or injustice and struggled to have the courage to confront the offender? What happened?CSI 26.6
