    Counsel #2 — A Balancing Act

    Picture: Counsel #2 — A Balancing ActCSI 69.1

In "The Quest for Cosmic Justice," Thomas Sowell explores the contrast between traditional justice and what he terms "cosmic justice" or social justice. Imagine traditional justice as a sports game, like basketball. The game has clear rules for all players, and if those rules are followed, it's considered fair. This fairness rests on the idea that all players have an equal chance to win.CSI 69.2

But "cosmic justice" takes a different route. It's like a coach who recognizes that not all players have the same skills. This coach might provide extra training to a less skilled player, leveling the playing field. It's a hands-on approach to fairness, requiring intervention to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity.CSI 69.3

Pursuing "cosmic justice" is no small task. But if we are to follow Jesus’ example, we will address societal inequalities — tackling life's inherent unfairness. We can ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance to “be the change we want to see in the world” today.CSI 69.4

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad." 2 Corinthians 5:10 NIVCSI 69.5

“Satan himself, in the presence of the witnessing universe, will confess the justice of God’s government and the righteousness of His law.” Ellen White in Patriarchs and Prophets, p.339CSI 69.6

Reflect: How can we think and relate equitably to include all abilities not directly caused by societal structures?[105]https://www.adventistworld.org/disabilities-are-not-barriers-but-possibilities-adventist-leader-says/CSI 69.7
