Counsel #2 — Health Equity Reality

Picture: Counsel #2 — Health Equity RealityCSI 130.1

People in low- and middle-income countries and regions are more likely to lack access to essential health care services than people in high income countries. This is due to several factors, including poverty, lack of health insurance, discrimination and few or no health care providers. Even when people have access to care, they may not receive the same level of care depending on their social status, gender, or race.CSI 130.2

“If there is among you a poor man of your brethren…. you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs.” Deuteronomy 15:7, 8 NLTCSI 130.3

“When all has been done that can be done in helping the poor to help themselves, there still remain the widow, the fatherless, the aged, the helpless, and the sick, who need sympathy and care. Never should these be neglected. God Himself has committed them to the mercy, love, and tender care of all whom He has made His stewards.” Ellen White in The Ministry of Health and Healing, p. 107CSI 130.4
