Counsel #9 — Humility Elevates, Not Pride

Picture: Counsel #9 — Humility Elevates, Not PrideCSI 122.1

Jesus challenges our natural inclinations, revealing a surprising truth: humility, not pride, is the path to true greatness. He overturns our expectations, declaring that the meek, not the self-confident, will inherit the earth. Pride is a deceptive trap. While it often masquerades as confidence, it leads us down a path of self-reliance and ultimately, away from God.CSI 122.2

Our Bible text invites us to reconsider the definition of success, shifting our focus from outward validation to inner growth and service to others. When we acknowledge our limitations and dependence on God, we open ourselves to receiving His grace and to experiencing meaning in our lives.[172]https://adventist.news/news/what-in-the-word-humilityCSI 122.3

"So, the last will be first, and the first will be last." Matthew 20:16 NIVCSI 122.4

“Let human beings be placed low, and let the Lord be exalted. Remember that earthly kingdoms, nations, monarchs, statesmen, counselors, great armies, and all worldly magnificence and glory are as the dust of the balance. God has a reckoning to make with all nations. Every kingdom is to be brought low. Human authority is to be made as naught. Christ is the King of the world, and His Kingdom is to be exalted.” Ellen White in Fundamentals of Christian Education, p. 481CSI 122.5

Reflect: What would change in your life if you intentionally aligned with the principle"the first shall be last, and the last shall be first"?CSI 122.6
