    Counsel #6 — Be Transformed

    Picture: Counsel #6 — Be TransformedCSI 41.1

There are many forms of bias besides the overt or obvious ones. These are ideas, thought patterns or actions known as “unconscious” or “implicit” bias. These types of bias can impact our attitudes, words, and decisions in ways in which we are completely unaware. These unconscious biases can influence decision making in hiring, schools, law enforcement, and other societal structures. Christians should be open to learning the truth about themselves and not live in a state of self-righteous denial that hurts their ability to grow into God’s ideal for His kingdom on earth.CSI 41.2

Each of us has some type of innate prejudice, conscious or unconscious bias, but Christ can change our thinking through His Spirit in response to our prayer for transformation. God can also provide opportunities for us to recognize our own biases if we are open to a change of heart and attitudes.[79]https://vic.adventist.org.au/implicit-bias/CSI 41.3

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 NKJVCSI 41.4

“In our worship of God there will be no distinction between rich and poor, white and black. All prejudice will be melted away. When we approach God, it will be as one brotherhood.” Ellen White in The Review and Herald, October 24, 1899CSI 41.5

Reflect: Are you willing to ask God to reveal any prejudices for which you need forgiveness, repentance, and transformation?CSI 41.6
