Counsel #2 — Our Value In Christ
Picture: Counsel #2 — Our Value In ChristCI 19.1
Our Christian identity includes being immensely valued by Christ.CI 19.2
If you were the only person on the entire planet that sinned, Jesus would have left heaven and died just for you. And He loves you right now as intensely as though there really were no one else for whom He died. He sees you as precious and valuable. He wants you!CI 19.3
If we are confident that God made us fearfully and wonderfully (Psalms 139:14) and that He loves us unconditionally, our self-esteem and sense of security will be healthy. We will view ourselves positively and have a heightened awareness of our value as God’s children.CI 19.4
“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God.” 1 John 3:1 NKJVCI 19.5
“The price paid for our redemption, the infinite sacrifice of our heavenly Father giving His Son to die for us, should give us exalted conceptions of what we may become through Christ… What a value this places upon man! Through transgression the sons of man become the subjects of Satan. Through faith in the atoning sacrifice of Christ the sons of Adam may become the sons of God.” Ellen White in Steps to Christ, p. 15CI 19.6
Reflect: How does the knowledge of Christ’s boundless love for you strengthen your self-worth and impact your identity?CI 19.7
