Jesus came to relieve suffering wherever He found it, at whatever cost to Himself. Though He is God of the universe — Creator of every human being — He became human, sharing the experience of humanity in His human body, authentically sympathizing with us. He chose to become one with human beings in every way. The one exception was that He did not sin.CI 35.2
As our Substitute and Surety, Jesus showed us the value He places on every person for whom He lived and died. In living His example of how to love, Jesus endured contempt, poverty, ridicule, suffering, and even death.CI 35.3
It is God’s plan that the oppressed, the suffering, and the exploited will feel His love through our acts of care, kindness, and love. Through His grace, we can learn to be the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus to others.CI 35.4
