    Counsel #5 — Service Organizations

    Picture: Counsel #5 — Service OrganizationsCI 38.1

There are many service organizations right within your community with different volunteer opportunities. Consider contacting Adventist Community Services,[34]https://www.communityservices.org/ Urban Ecology (beautifying neighborhoods), Meals on Wheels, community food banks, community gardens, human and civil rights organizations, disaster relief organizations, animal shelters, homeless shelters, blood donor agencies and/or others.CI 38.2

Google “Service opportunities in____________” and list your town or city. You will get plenty of ideas! Wherever you serve, don’t miss your opportunities for encouragement and pointing others to Jesus.CI 38.3

“Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” Philippians 2:4 NKJVCI 38.4

“Pray that [God] will give you a heart of flesh, a heart that can feel the sorrows of others, that can be touched with human woe. Pray that He will give you a heart that will not permit you to turn a deaf ear to the widow or the fatherless. Pray that you may have bowels of mercy for the poor, the infirm, and the oppressed. Pray that you may love justice and hate robbery, and make no difference in the bestowal of your favors, except to consider the cases of the needy and unfortunate.” Ellen White in Welfare Ministry, p. 83CI 38.5

Reflect: Who will you find to serve today?CI 38.6
