Counsel #1 — Philosophy Of Service
Picture: Counsel #1 — Philosophy Of ServiceCI 34.1
Jesus came to break down every wall of separation; to serve others — whether Muslim or Jew, neighbor or stranger, friend or enemy. He treated everyone as valuable beings created in the image of God and with the greatest kindness He pursued ways to serve them.CI 34.2
Jesus considers actions of loving service done for the weak, hated, overlooked, and neglected as done to Himself. He is hurt by the mistreatment of the most repulsive person. Christ died for everyone, and when even one person suffers, their pain is felt by our Savior. Conversely, when we care tenderly for one suffering person, all of heaven rejoices!CI 34.3
“Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” Matthew 25:14 NKJVCI 34.4
“The tender sympathies of our Saviour were aroused for fallen and suffering humanity. If you would be His followers, you must cultivate compassion and sympathy. Indifference to human woes must give place to lively interest in the sufferings of others.” Ellen White in Welfare Ministry, p. 26CI 34.5
Reflect: What are some tangible ways you can develop compassion and sympathy for “the least of these?”CI 34.6
