Picture: Counsel #7 — Stress-Busting ActivitiesCI 96.1
As Christians, we know that God desires peace for His children in our fast-paced world, and fortunately, He has provided many ways for us to find it. Practice stress-reducing activities, such as spending time with animals or in nature.CI 96.2
Studies have shown that interacting with animals can lower blood pressure, reduce anxiety, and improve mood. Spend time playing with your pet, volunteer at an animal shelter, or simply watch birds outside your window.CI 96.3
Consider meditating on Scripture in a natural setting, mindful gardening, or joining a nature-based service project. Allow yourself to be present in the moment (without the distraction of a device) and appreciate the wonders of God's creation.CI 96.4
“But now ask the beasts, and they will teach you; and the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you; and the fish of the sea will explain to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this, in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind?” Job 12:7-10 NKJVCI 96.5
“Look at the wonderful and beautiful things of nature…The heart is quickened, and throbs with new and deeper love, mingled with awe and reverence, as we contemplate God in nature.” Ellen White in My Life Today, p. 294.6CI 96.6
Reflect: When engaging in nature-based activities, try to put away distractions and truly contemplate God as the Creator. What challenges do you face in doing so?CI 96.7
