Counsel #4 — Vulnerability And Repentance

Picture: Counsel #4 — Vulnerability And RepentanceCI 101.1

Vulnerability is not for the purpose of ego, manipulation or even an end in itself. We must learn to be vulnerable for the sake of what Jesus wants to do in us and through us. He transforms our character into His own (2 Peter 1:4) as He calls us to repentance.CI 101.2

Here’s an example: a group of friends studies the book of Micah and its call to justice, mercy, and right-doing. During their time together, they confess to God and each other their lack of compassion, grace, and charity for others. The Holy Spirit joins them as they study His Word and He creates an organic vulnerability that increases their faith and action.[97]https://www.adventist.org/christian-behavior/unfinished-business/CI 101.3

“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.” James 5:16 NKJVCI 101.4

“Confess your sins to God, who only can forgive them, and your faults to one another. If you have given offense to your friend or neighbor, you are to acknowledge your wrong, and it is his duty to freely forgive you.” Ellen White in Steps to Christ, p. 37CI 101.5

Reflect: Is it difficult for you to ask others to forgive you for hurting them? Today, make right any wrongs you know stand between you and someone else — no one is promised tomorrow!CI 101.6
