Our contemporary culture operates on the premise that individuals can only be authentic when acting out personal desires and feelings independent of social constructs, religious teachings or even the primary characteristics of their physical bodies.CI 62.3
God, who loves each of us as though there weren’t another person on earth, invites us to live according to His will in Scripture (Psalms 119:11; 2 Timothy 3:16, 17). Satan, on the other hand, seeks our misery and ultimate destruction by distorting our emotions, feelings, and perceptions. Only as we rely on our relationship with God and His Word can we find hope and secure guidance amid society’s conflicting claims.CI 62.4
