Counsel #5 — Destroy Occult Trappings

Picture: Counsel #5 — Destroy Occult TrappingsCFL 23.1

When Paul preached about Christ in Ephesus, many Jews gladly accepted Him and made major changes in their lives. Books on magic, sorcery and occultic symbolism had become immensely popular. Convicted that these books promoted Satan’s kingdom of darkness and not Christ’s kingdom of light, these new Christians, as well as those who had made a recommitment to Christ, brought their expensive occultic books to a public bonfire.CFL 23.2

When we come to Jesus, we too will leave behind all media and practices associated with the occult.[19]https://www.croydonadventist.org/desensitisation-to-occult/CFL 23.3

“Many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds. Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver.” Acts 19:18, 19 NKJVCFL 23.4

“By burning their books on magic, the Ephesian converts showed that the things in which they had once delighted they now abhorred. It was by and through magic that they had especially offended God and imperiled their souls; and it was against magic that they showed such indignation. Thus they gave evidence of true conversion.” Ellen White in Acts of the Apostles, p. 288CFL 23.5

Reflect: Is the loss of heaven worth holding on to your occultic games, books, movies, and other items?CFL 23.6
