Our world today is a tinderbox, ready to explode. There is a crisis of faith, a crisis of science (for example, nuclear or chemical warfare, exploitation of earth’s resources, climate change, pharmaceutical exploitation, gender diaspora), a crisis of racial tension, an economic crisis, a political crisis. Nations are raging against each other. As this turmoil escalates, genuine love for God grows cold (Matthew 24:12).^{[30]https://adventistreview.org/commentary/is-the-spirit-of-god-withdrawing-from-the-earth/} What is lacking in faith and obedience will soon be replaced by a global effort to establish order and stability through legislated worship.CFL 35.2

This most momentous struggle of all time is just before us. The gospel work which the church has failed to do in a time of peace and prosperity, she will have to do in a terrible crisis, under the most discouraging, forbidding circumstances. See Evangelism, p. 31CFL 35.3
