The latter rain is the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit on God’s people just before Jesus comes again, giving power to their witness and strength to survive the time of trouble. At the end of earth’s history, when God’s work in this world is closing, God’s faithful people will receive special signs of divine favor as the early Christian church did at Pentecost.^{[59]https://www.ministrymagazine.org/archive/1972/04/the-latter-rain-and-the-loud-cry}CFL 63.2

The final work of the gospel will have even more demonstrations of the power of God than did the former rain of His Spirit. These are the times of refreshing to which the apostle Peter looked forward when he said: “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” Acts 3:19 NKJVCFL 63.3
