Since his rebellion in heaven (see Revelation 12:7-9), Satan has sought to undermine God’s character of love. The prince of evil has achieved this purpose through the mammoth system of Roman deception which brings dishonor to God and heavy burdens to its adherents as well as to those considered heretics.CFL 54.2
All Christ asks is a broken, repentant heart. In contrast, Satan has inspired Rome to torture, persecute and condemn to death millions of those who dissented from its ideology. Consider the history of the Waldenses, Albigenses, Protestant reformers, Crusades, Inquisition, and many other “holy wars” carried out by Roman Catholicism.CFL 54.3
