God through His Spirit draws all of us toward Himself.If we respond to that love, we will recognize ourselves as sinners and accept the salvation offered freely through Jesus. We will repent of known sins, confess them, and believe that God has forgiven us because of Christ’s death in our place.CFL 80.2
When we surrender our life to Jesus, we are forgiven, accepted, and given the gift of eternal life. Then Jesus begins the work of transforming us into His image. Our old cowardly, sexually immoral, unbelieving life that may have included lying, cheating and idolatry is gone (see Revelation 21:7, 8, 27)! Now in our new life, we engage in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of Jesus (see 2 Peter 3:10, 11). Not by our good works but only through the righteousness of Christ are we prepared by His grace to inherit the new earth.CFL 80.3
