Counsel #25 — Not Going Back

Picture: Counsel #25 — Not Going BackCLi 112.1

Overcoming pornography is not a one-time victory, but rather it is a daily battle that requires constant dying to our flesh and consistent communication with God. Just because we may stop watching porn for years and years doesn’t mean that the inclination we have towards porn has gone away, or that the desire is no longer within us.CLi 112.2

The key to overcoming sin and ensuring we don’t get pulled back into the chains of addiction is putting God first and maintaining a strong, unbreakable bond with Him. Fervently pray to be strengthened and enlightened - both in overcoming the temptation and changing your desires. When you stumble, instantly seek His forgiveness and learn from the experience so that you don’t repeat certain behaviors that will cause you to fall back into the cycle of pornography addiction. Yes, victory is possible, but may we never forget that without God, we can’t “stay the course” of resisting sin.[104]https://www.wf3asda.org/outreach/overcoming-temptationCLi 112.3

“There is no excuse for sinning. A holy temper, a Christlike life, is accessible to every repenting, believing child of God.” Ellen White in Homeward Bound, p. 83CLi 112.5
