“Well, I don’t see any point in looking further. There isn’t anything unexpected here.”

Why haven’t other scientists noticed the evidence of bioturbation or excellently preserved fossils? The answer is simple. To illustrate, not long ago in Arizona, an unusual feature in the rocks was pointed out to an atheist geologist; his comment helps provide an answer to our question. He responded “[Creationist scientists] do have a different search image. I would have thought ‘that’s odd’ and moved on.” His geological theory did not explain the unusual feature, so he dismissed it as unimportant. However, the biblical perspective on geology underscores its importance and implications.CCW 147.3

Earth scientists who trust the radiometric time scale of millions of years often overlook evidence that doesn’t fit their theory, like the lack of bioturbation or well-preserved fossils. They might think these findings aren’t significant enough to study. Additionally, university professors risk their careers and the respect of their colleagues by exploring such controversial topics. They are not unintelligent; they are just misled by a false worldview.[221]https://adventistreview.org/magazine-article/2105-42/CCW 147.4

“Do not fool yourselves. If anyone among you thinks he is wise in this world, he should become a fool. Then he can become truly wise.” 1 Corinthians 3:18 ICBCCW 147.5

“The greatest minds, if not guided by the word of God in their research, become bewildered in their attempts to trace the relations of science and revelation.” Ellen White in Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 113CCW 147.6

Reflect: What are some thought-provoking questions you could ask an earth science believer to spark interest and inspire further exploration of creation science?CCW 147.7
