    Counsel #2 — Past Judgments

    Picture: Counsel #2 — Past JudgmentsCCW 71.1

There are many stories of judgment in the Bible. But the good news is that God always does what He can to investigate and intervene before judging. God gave the antediluvians 120 years to decide to get on the ark before sending the flood in judgment.[96]Genesis 6 and 7 Angels investigated Sodom and rescued Lot’s family before destroying it.[97]Genesis 19 The Amorites were given time to reform,[98]Genesis 15:16 and early Christians knew when to escape Jerusalem’s destruction.[99]Matthew 24:15, 16 Jesus has told us what to expect, not to cause fear, but confidence that He is in control.[100]https://adventistreview.org/magazine-article/judgment-for-dummies/CCW 71.2

“So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!” Matthew 24:33 NKJVCCW 71.3

“The time of Christ's coming, His anointing by the Holy Spirit, His death, and the giving of the gospel to the Gentiles, were definitely pointed out. It was the privilege of the Jewish people to understand these prophecies, and to recognize their fulfillment in the mission of Jesus. Christ urged upon His disciples the importance of prophetic study… After His resurrection He explained to the disciples in ‘all the prophets’ ‘the things concerning Himself.’ Luke 24:27. The Saviour had spoken through all the prophets.” Ellen White in The Desire of Ages p. 234.1CCW 71.4
