Counsel #2 — She Equips The Church

Picture: Counsel #2 — She Equips The ChurchCCW 173.1

Another reason to read Ellen White’s writings is that God has specifically placed prophecy within the church for a reason—to build people up in truth and equip church members to be able to minister effectively. For example, Barnabas was used to encourage the newly converted Paul in his faith. Similarly, the ministry of Ellen White was historically effective in bringing early Adventists together and encouraging them to remain faithful. Today, her writings can do the same for us.[254]https://www.askanadventistfriend.com/adventist-beliefs/gift-of-prophecy/CCW 173.2

“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,” Ephesians 4:11, 12 NKJVCCW 173.3

“He gave some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers. What will these do? What true evidence will they give of their calling? How will they reveal that they are the chosen of God? In the influence and character of the work that they do, the object of which is the perfecting of the saints in the work of the ministry, the edifying of the body, the church, of Christ.” Ellen White in Letters and Manuscripts, vol. 12, Manuscript 114, 1897, par. 10CCW 173.4

Reflect: How does Ellen White's prophetic ministry equip believers for effective service in the church today? CCW 173.5
