    Counsel #1 — A Global Flood Reality

    Picture: Counsel #1 — A Global Flood RealityCCW 138.1

To scientifically understand a correct account of the biblical flood, we must first look at how basic geology works. Sediment is rock fragments — like mud, sand, pebbles, or carbonate chemicals (calcium carbonate). Water ‒ rivers, ocean currents or flash floods, carries sediment and deposits it in layers. Animals or plants killed and rapidly buried in the sediment may become fossils. The accumulated layers of sediment are like a history book. The lowest layers are the oldest and the upper layer is the youngest. That is true no matter how fast or slow the layers accumulated. Chemical cements, or other processes then harden the sediment into rock. Pressure inside the earth pushes rock layers up or sideways, forming faults, mountains or hills. In time, erosion from rapidly flowing water carries part of the rock away, leaving valleys, canyons, mountains, and hills. In the flood these things happened very rapidly, over the whole earth.[204]https://adventistreview.org/news/good-and-bad-news-about-the-biblical-flood/CCW 138.2

For behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven. Everything that is on the earth shall die. Genesis 6:17CCW 138.3

“Up to that time rain had never fallen; the earth had been watered by a mist or dew. The rivers had never yet passed their boundaries but had carried their waters safely to the sea because God’s fixed commands had kept the waters from overflowing their banks (see Job 38:11).” The Beginning of the End, p. 37.4 — An Ellen White adaptation.CCW 138.4
