Anytime God makes something beautiful, Satan provides a counterfeit. He opposes the 7th-day Sabbath and masterminded a catastrophic attempt to change in God’s Law. The book of Daniel^{[107]Daniel 7:25} describes a figure, often interpreted as the papacy, who attempts to "change times and law." The Apostle Paul mentions a similar concept of a "man of sin" who would elevate himself above God (2 Thessalonians 2:3, 4).
