Counsel #5 — She Reveals Spiritual Blindness

Picture: Counsel #5 — She Reveals Spiritual BlindnessCCW 176.1

History shows that people are generally slow to accept truth that contradicts what they want to believe. For example, the Pharisees wanted to believe that Jesus was not the Messiah. King Saul wanted God to approve of his war plans. Eve wanted to believe she could eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil without dying. Because of this spiritual blindness, God has often used prophets to bring people’s attention to truths they should have known already.[257]https://www.adventistreview.org/archives/2004-1535/story2.htmlCCW 176.2

“Because they have not heeded My words, says the Lord, which I sent to them by My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; neither would you heed, says the Lord.” Jeremiah 29:19 NKJVCCW 176.3

“It is because you have neglected to acquaint yourselves with God's inspired Book that he has sought to reach you by simple, direct testimonies…. Additional truth is not brought out; but God has through the testimonies simplified the great truths already given, and in his own chosen way brought them before the people, to awaken and impress the mind with them, that all may be left without excuse.” Ellen White in Testimony for the Church, no. 20, p. 44.1CCW 176.4

Reflect: How does spiritual blindness hinder accepting truth you disagree with? CCW 176.5
