Counsel #6 — She Confirms Truth

Picture: Counsel #6 — She Confirms TruthCCW 177.1

Since the ascension of Jesus, His words have been interpreted in many different ways. So many, in fact, that there are now thousands of Christian denominations. How can Christians know whether a doctrine is true or not? Even simple truths—such as the second commandment which forbids bowing down to images—have been distorted or even removed from the Bible altogether by some people. Thankfully, God does not leave us to figure this out alone.[258]https://www.ministrymagazine.org/archive/1980/10/the-role-of-the-ellen-g.-white-writings-in-doctrinal-matters Instead, He has given spiritual leaders to the church—including prophets—who can prevent us from being “carried about with every wind of doctrine.”[259]Ephesians 4:11-14CCW 177.2

“And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;” 2 Peter 1:19 NKJVCCW 177.3

“The visions were given to confirm the message…. The weak in faith in Bible evidence were confirmed, strengthened, and settled. All did [not] discern the sanctuary question in its important bearings until the representations came to them in the clear application of truth from the visions which God gave.” Ellen White in Letters and Manuscripts, vol. 20, Letter 366, 1905, par. 7CCW 177.4

Reflect: How does the prophetic word mentioned in our Bible verse serve as a light in a dark place? CCW 177.5
