    Counsel #10 — A Christian At Home

    Picture: Counsel #10 — A Christian At HomeCCW 28.1

During WWII, thousands of Jewish children were hidden in monasteries and convents throughout Europe. Most of them never saw their parents again. As the war ended, Rabbi Yosef Shlomo Kahaneman travelled from monastery to monastery, looking for the forgotten Jewish children. In many cases, their names and identities had been changed to avoid Nazi detection. So Kahaneman devised a plan: He would come into a monastery and begin chanting Deuteronomy 6:4, 5—the Great Shema. Instantly, the little ones would remember their upbringing and tearfully reach out to the kind-hearted rabbi. To the end of his life, Kahaneman stated that he accomplished his deeds with “21 fingers:” His 10 fingers, 10 toes, and the finger of God.CCW 28.2

We often think of Christianity as something lived out in churches. But its true starting point? Right at home. Our Bible verse today reminds us that faith should be woven into our daily routines—when we sit, walk, lie down, and rise. It’s within these everyday moments that faith takes root, becoming more than just beliefs; it becomes a lifestyle.[43]https://www.adventist.org/ellen-whites-counsel-for-interpersonal-relationships/CCW 28.3

“The strongest argument in favor of the gospel is a loving and lovable Christian.” Ellen White in The Ministry of Healing, 470CCW 28.5
