Counsel #23 — Godly Teen Standards

Picture: Counsel #23 — Godly Teen StandardsCR 135.1

One of the enemy's main lies to you as a teenager is that responsibility and hard work are tasks meant only for parents. This deception often leads teens to seek out easy paths with minimal effort yet enjoyable rewards. Remember that God has high expectations for you, even during your teen years!CR 135.2

In school, He calls you to work diligently. At home, He expects you to contribute by helping with cooking, cleaning, and other family responsibilities. In social settings, whether with friends or in extracurriculars, God expects you to model a righteous character, reflecting His love in your words and actions. God’s standards should align closely with your parents’ expectations, guiding you to faithfully serve, help others, and embody His grace and mercy. If you don’t have godly parents setting these expectations, focus on what God desires from you: growth, commitment, service, faithfulness, and Spirit-led conduct. Embrace responsibility to honor God and grow in character.[128]https://rcsda.adventistfaith.org/bibleinfo_topics/teenschildren?_=1731439580820.2954CR 135.3

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother—which is the first commandment with a promise— so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” Ephesians 6:1-3 NIVCR 135.4

“Children as well as parents have important duties in the home. They should be taught that they are a part of the home firm.” Ellen White in The Adventist Home, p. 50CR 135.5

Reflect: How can you help more at home?CR 135.6
