Counsel #2 — Believe You Are Forgiven!

    Picture: Counsel #2 — Believe You Are Forgiven!CR 158.1

You’ve surrendered your life to Jesus. Through His Holy Spirit, He’s given you the gift of repentance; you’ve confessed your sins and turned from them. You’ve committed your life to God. Now, approach Him again in prayer, asking for forgiveness and a renewed heart and mind. Believe that He has the power to cleanse you, as He promised. Jesus taught us this truth during His time on earth. Trust that God’s promise of forgiveness is yours to claim, regardless of how you feel. Declare, “I believe it. It is so,” not based on your feelings but on God’s promise.[151]See Mark 11:24CR 158.2

We do not honor God when we doubt His forgiveness of our sins. When we believe, God acts![152]https://www.askanadventistfriend.com/sin/how-do-i-know-that-im-forgiven/CR 158.3

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” 1 John 1:9 NKJV CR 158.4

“You may pray for these blessings and believe that you receive them. You may go to Jesus and be made clean and stand before God’s law without shame or sadness. ‘There is no condemnation now for those who live in union with Christ Jesus’ (Romans 8:1).” Ellen White in Steps to Jesus, p. 49CR 158.5

Reflect: What steps can you take to silence the voice of condemnation and embrace the truth of your forgiveness in Christ?CR 158.6
