Counsel #10 — Reflecting The Redeemer

Picture: Counsel #10 — Reflecting the RedeemerCR 28.1

Being a positive Christian influence in a friendship is vital for sustaining meaningful and uplifting relationships. By reflecting God’s grace, a Christian friend serves as a source of hope and guidance, offering support rooted in faith and encouragement during joyful and challenging times.CR 28.2

For example, when a friend feels overwhelmed, you can be a positive influence by actively listening to their struggles, offering a prayer for their peace, and even sharing a Scripture like Philippians 4:6, 7, reminding them not to be anxious about anything, but to instead trust in God. If a friend is struggling with depression, anxiety, or any other mental stronghold, offer wise counsel rooted in biblical principles and spiritual discernment, ensuring that your guidance is grounded in faith rather than influenced by worldly perspectives. Such friendships inspire mutual accountability, promote spiritual growth, and leave a lasting, positive impact on both lives.[26]https://adventistreview.org/magazine-article/our-influence/CR 28.3

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 NIVCR 28.4

“Personal influence is a power. It is to work with the influence of Christ, to lift where Christ lifts, to impart correct principles, and to stay the progress of the world's corruption. It is to diffuse that grace which Christ alone can impart.” Ellen White in Lift Him Up, p. 286CR 28.5

Reflect: If your friend is upset or sad, how can you show them the love of Christ in your actions? CR 28.6
