Counsel #4 — United In Christ

Picture: Counsel #4 — United in ChristCR 75.1

God longs for your marriage to bring you beautiful happiness and companionship. As a united team, you and your spouse can serve the Lord with all your focus and energy, and, if you have children, raise them to love Jesus and be joyfully ready to meet Him.CR 75.2

Don’t be deceived into thinking that choosing to unite with an unbeliever will be an exception to God’s rule, having a happy result. Trust Him with your affections, ambitions, and desires. Ultimately, choosing God’s way will make you happier than you can imagine.[72]https://www.adventistworld.org/gods-ideal-marriage/CR 75.3

“Nor shall you make marriages with [non-believers] …. For they will turn your sons away from following Me.” Deuteronomy 7:3, 4CR 75.4

“Only in her Saviour can the wife find wisdom, strength, and grace to meet the cares, responsibilities, and sorrows of life. She should make Him her strength and her guide. Let woman give herself to Christ before giving herself to any earthly friend, and enter into no relation which shall conflict with this. Those who find true happiness must have the blessing of Heaven upon all that they possess and all that they do. It is disobedience to God that fills so many hearts and homes with misery.” Ellen White in Messages to Young People, pp. 440, 441 CR 75.5

Reflect: In what ways do you see choosing God’s plan bringing you more happiness than following your own desires?CR 75.6
