    Picture: Counsel #2 — Emotional DevelopmentCR 113.1

While providing adequate nutrition is crucial for a child's overall well-being, food is not a substitute for attention! As a parent, ask God for help in creating a safe, loving, and supportive environment where your kids feel valued, understood, and secure.CR 113.2

Be consistent and loving in your caregiving. The importance of intentionally being present, responsive, and attentive to your child's needs and emotions cannot be overstated. By providing timely comfort, reassurance, and encouragement, parents can help their children develop a sense of security and trust. Additionally, engaging in regular, interactive play can help children learn essential social and emotional skills, such as empathy, cooperation, and problem-solving.[106]https://adventistreview.org/news/ministries-emphasize-caring-for-childrens-emotional-health/CR 113.3

Model healthy emotional expression. Children learn by observing the behavior of their parents and caregivers. By expressing their own emotions in a healthy and constructive manner, parents can teach their children how to cope with difficult feelings and communicate their needs effectively. It's also important to validate and acknowledge children's emotions, even when they are challenging or uncomfortable.CR 113.4

“And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” Romans 5:5 ESVCR 113.5

“The children’s stomachs have been pressed with food, when they had not the least want of it. All that was required was a little of the mother’s time and attention.” Ellen White in The Adventist Home, p. 261CR 113.6

Reflect: In what ways can faith provide support and guidance for parents in nurturing their children's emotional well-being?CR 113.7
