Counsel #6 — Christian Communication In Conflict

Picture: Counsel #6 — Christian Communication in ConflictCR 53.1

Conflict is not necessarily negative. It might simply mean that two people have a difference of opinion or a different approach to a shared problem or task.  What makes conflict positive or negative is your method of responding to it; if you seek through your response to honor Jesus or just benefit yourself.[50]https://adventistreview.org/2011-1517/2011-1517-22/CR 53.2

Here are four suggestions for conflict resolution:

    CR 53.3

Pray for God’s help in choosing your words.
Affirm the importance of the relationship.
Stay on the present topic—don’t bring up past conflicts or disappointments.
If the conflict is not resolved, follow the principles of Matthew 18:15-18

“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Proverbs 15:1 NKJV CR 53.4

“The powers of darkness stand a poor chance against believers who love one another as Christ has loved them, who refuse to create alienation and strife, who stand together, who are kind, courteous, and tender hearted, cherishing the faith that works by love and purifies the soul.” Ellen White in Our Father Cares, p. 36CR 53.5

Reflect: Is Christ-like conflict an oxymoron or can conflict be healthy and positive?CR 53.6
