Counsel #3 — Recreation To Avoid

Picture: Counsel #3 — Recreation to AvoiDCR 13.1

Christian socializing is a gift from God and He means for us to enjoy it with a clear mind, unimpaired by alcohol,[11]https://www.firstadventistchurch.org/from-the-site-director/should-adventists-use-alcohol recreational drugs, or other mind-dulling substances. Our time spent together enjoying fellowship and encouraging each other should enhance life, not diminish it. If you’re used to alcohol being at the core of your social gatherings, it might seem awkward at first to spend time socializing without it, but the connections you make will ultimately be deeper and more meaningful.  CR 13.2

“And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation [wasting away]; but be filled with the Spirit.” Ephesians 5:18 NKJVCR 13.3

“Satan gathered the fallen angels together to devise some way of doing the most possible evil to the human family. One proposition after another was made, till finally Satan himself thought of a plan. He would take the fruit of the vine, also wheat, and other things given by God as food, and would convert them into poisons, which would ruin man’s physical, mental, and moral powers, and so overcome the senses that Satan should have full control.” Ellen White in Review and Herald, April 16, 1901, par. 7CR 13.4

Reflect: What are some of your favorite Christian recreational activities?CR 13.5
