    Counsel #1 — Is A “Soulmate” Biblical?

    Picture: Counsel #1 — Is A “soulmate” biblical?CR 64.1

Unlike in some romance novels, neither the word “soulmate” or an example of a couple that’s predestined to be together is mentioned in the Bible. However, God wants you to find authentic happiness in your relationships and ultimately in your marriage.CR 64.2

The Bible provides guidelines for finding true love that God can bless. He also can arrange circumstances for you to meet someone who passes those biblical tests. Be careful not to assume that because you met someone by chance who strikes your fancy, God must have dropped her or him into your lap! Always test the relationship possibility with biblical principles.[62]https://www.adventistlearningcommunity.com/resources/14015 CR 64.3

“Test all things; hold fast that which is good.” 1 Thessalonians 5:21 NKJVCR 64.4

”Before taking a step which is to exert an influence upon all your future life, I urge you to give the subject careful and prayerful deliberation. Will this new relationship prove a source of true happiness? Will it be a help to you in the Christian life? Will it be pleasing to God? Will your example be a safe one for others to follow?” Ellen White in Messages to Young People, p. 439CR 64.5

Reflect: If you are dating or considering dating, seek God’s guidance to determine if a prospective “soulmate” is someone He would want you to be with. In what positive or negative ways could God be revealing His will to you?CR 64.6
