    Counsel #2 — Surrender

    Picture: Counsel #2 — SurrenderCWe 4.1

Some people have played training “trust games” at youth camps or leadership conferences. In these games you have to let go of your fear of being dropped, and trust that your friends will safely catch you. There are parallels in those games with learning to trust God. The first step in trusting God is surrender. This means surrender of works righteousness, personal ambitions, unsanctified affections—in short, anything that we cling to instead of God. As we surrender, God meets us and encourages us by His presence.CWe 4.2

Complete trust in God depends on full surrender to God.[2]https://adventistreview.org/commentary/what-surfing-taught-me-about-surrender/ Fortunately, we have help. Every weak, stumbling, doubting struggling person who is willing to yield to the Lord has all of heaven’s agencies to help him or her overcome.CWe 4.3

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5, 6 NKJVCWe 4.4

“So long as we surrender the will to God, and trust in His strength and wisdom, we shall be guided in safe paths, to fulfill our appointed part in His great plan.” Ellen White in The Desire of Ages, p. 209CWe 4.5

Reflect: What are you holding back from God? Pray and ask Him to help you surrender all to Him.CWe 4.6
