    Picture: Counsel #12 — Getting Started — Part 1CWe 82.1

Sticking to an exercise routine can be difficult, so taking small, intentional steps is the best way to approach this new journey toward better overall health. Primarily, you want to set realistic goals according to your fitness level, such as being able to walk for 15 minutes daily or simply stretching before bedtime. At the beginning of your exercise journey, it’s extremely important to choose activities you enjoy, such as group aerobics, cycling, or tennis, so that you remain motivated and determined to push through.CWe 82.2

Going slow initially and then progressively building your momentum each day will not only begin to increase your overall interest in working out, but it will serve as an intrinsic motivator to reach newer heights regarding physical stamina and strength. The trick is in consistency and variety, so mix aerobic exercises with strength training and flexibility movements with cardio for a well-rounded approach. Listen to your body, drink plenty of fluids, and take advantage of God’s sabbath principle of rest to prevent injury or unbearable soreness. Invite God into your journey and then enjoy the benefits of a new, active lifestyle![94]https://women.adventist.org/seven-steps-for-setting-and-reaching-goalsCWe 82.3
