Counsel #8 — Focus On Fitness

Picture: Counsel #8 — Focus On FitnessCWe 78.1

The general effect of physical activity on human cognition is truly remarkable, for it points to the great structure of the human body designed by God. One of the primary benefits of exercise and consistent physical activity is increased blood flow to the brain, which improves memory, attention, and general problem-solving skills. Whenever you move your body in a way that increases your heart rate, your body produces a protein that assists in the growth and survival of neurons in the body, enhancing your brain’s plasticity and adaptability.CWe 78.2

Additionally, regular physical activity lessens the risk of cognitive decline and conditions such as Alzheimer's by reducing inflammation, stress, and anxiety. Interestingly, increased exercise leads to higher energy levels during the day and improved sleep at night—both essential for you to faithfully steward the life that God has entrusted to you.[90]https://nadhealth.org/faith-in-motion/#:~:text=Activity%20helps%20the%20brain%20to,person%20wellness%20are%20also%20interconnectedCWe 78.3

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall.” Isaiah 40:29, 30 NIVCWe 78.4

“When physical exercise is taken, the circulation is quickened. The heart receives blood faster and sends it to the lungs faster. The lungs work more vigorously, furnishing a greater amount of blood, which is sent with stronger power through the entire being. Exercise gives new life and strength to every part of the body.” Ellen White in Reflecting Christ, p. 147CWe 78.5

Reflect: Do you exercise regularly? If not, what would motivate you to do so?CWe 78.6
