Counsel #7 — Trust God Over Human Counselors

Picture: Counsel #7 — Trust God Over Human CounselorsCWe 9.1

How Jesus longs to have us cast all our cares upon Him and allow Him to be our Burden Bearer. Often we are tempted to pour out our sorrows, disappointments and anxieties to earthly friends. But the counsel of human beings is inconsistent and not always godly. How much better to confide our wants, our joys, our cares and our fears to God![7]https://ssnet.org/blog/monday-trust-god-not-your-own-resources/ We cannot burden Him, we cannot weary Him, and His counsel of peace is always for our best (see Steps to Christ, p. 100).CWe 9.2

“It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.” Psalms 116:8, 9 NKJVCWe 9.3

“When in trouble, many think they must appeal to some earthly friend, telling him their perplexities, and begging for help…. And all the time there stands beside them the mighty Counselor of the ages, inviting them to place their confidence in Him. Jesus, the great Burden Bearer, is saying, ‘Come unto Me, and I will give you rest.’ Shall we turn from Him to uncertain human beings, who are as dependent upon God as we ourselves are?” Ellen White in Ministry of Healing, p. 512CWe 9.4

Reflect: How can you be intentional in turning to Jesus when you are perplexed, discouraged, or overwhelmed, instead of relying solely on friends for counsel?CWe 9.5
