    Counsel #17 — Without Ceasing

    Picture: Counsel #17 — Without CeasingCWe 27.1

Prayer is a believer’s most powerful tool, directly connecting them to God. Praying gives us the opportunity to express gratitude, share our struggles, seek guidance and strength to overcome sin, ask for forgiveness and the gift of repentance—all which brings us peace that only heaven can give.[26]John 14:27 Prayer reminds us that we are never alone.CWe 27.2

How does communication with God work; how do we pray? Simply, prayer is sharing with God what’s on your heart, but equally important, it’s about God sharing what’s on His heart with us as well. When you pray, start with praise and adoration: thanking God for what He has done in your life and worshiping Him for who He is. Ask for forgiveness of any sins you have committed, and for strength to resist temptation. It’s also important to pray for others — friends, loved ones, church and world leadership, and even for people you don’t know. The world is a scary place — violence and unrighteousness plague every corner and crevice of our earth, further solidifying the need for prayer. There are many purposes for praying, but most importantly it is to connect with our best Friend and Creator — to hear His voice — and to be empowered with His Spirit to do His will; to share His love with others.[27]https://www.adventist.org/prayer/CWe 27.3
