Counsel #5 — Jesus’ Source Of Power

Picture: Counsel #5 — Jesus’ Source Of PowerCWe 15.1

Jesus earthly life demonstrated the epitome of spiritual wellness! We can never equal His spiritual-wellness score, but we can emulate His prayer life as found in Luke 11. There Jesus told a story about a man who knocked on his neighbor’s door to ask for bread. Even after his neighbor said, “I can’t give it to you; we’re all in bed,” the man continued knocking until the neighbor relented. Jesus says this illustrates the persistence we must have in asking for the Holy Spirit. He is essential to our spiritual wellbeing.[12]https://record.adventistchurch.com/2019/07/04/greater-works-than-jesus/CWe 15.2

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” Luke 11:13 NKJVCWe 15.3

“God does not say, Ask once, and you shall receive. He bids us ask. Unwearingly persist in prayer. The persistent asking brings the petitioner into a more earnest attitude, and gives him an increased desire to receive the things for which he asks.” Ellen White in Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 145CWe 15.4
