    Counsel #25 — Confession

    Picture: Counsel #25 — ConfessionCWe 35.1

True confession and repentance are essential steps in restoring your relationship with God after you’ve sinned, whether intentionally or unintentionally. This involves acknowledging your sins before God, not with excuses for the behavior, but with humility and sincerity. Whenever you sin, you must take responsibility for your actions and recognize how continuing in that sin will further separate you from God’s presence. If you find yourself rationalizing or justifying your sin, ask God for the Spirit’s gift of true repentance.[40]https://www.croydonadventist.org/how-do-i-repent/CWe 35.2

No matter how uncomfortable facing your sin is, doing so is imperative for God to truly forgive you. Real confession requires a heart willing to face the truth. Additionally, confession and repentance are more than just saying you’re sorry for the act; it’s a complete turning away from the sin and committing to change. Most people think that authentic confession can be brought forth simply by the desire to do so, but this is a misconception. Repentance is empowered by God’s grace, as He not only forgives but also provides the strength to overcome the sinful habit or habits. When you confess and repent, you can experience God’s mercy and healing, opening the door to spiritual renewal, deeper intimacy with Him, and the freedom to walk in the purpose He’s designed for you.CWe 35.3
