Counsel #4 — Trust Through Faith, Not Sight

Picture: Counsel #4 — Trust Through Faith, Not SightCWe 6.1

Faith and trust are closely connected. We could say faith is trusting God — believing that He loves us and knows best what is for our good (see Education, p. 253). Faith centers on hope in God, whom we cannot see with our physical sight, but whom we nonetheless trust as though we could! Genuine mindfulness and prayer are the safeguards of trust in a loving Being who promises to never leave us or forsake us (see Deuteronomy 31:6).[4]https://knowledge.e.southern.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1043&context=main#:~:text=The%20reality%20is%2C%20we%20cannot%20fix%20what%20we%20forsake.&text=God%2C%20thank%20you%20for%20promising,the%20things%20I%20have%20forsaken.CWe 6.2

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJVCWe 6.3

“Faith takes God at His word, not asking to understand the meaning of the trying experiences that come. But there are many who have little faith…. And the difficulties they encounter, instead of driving them to God, separate them from Him, by arousing unrest and repining. Do they well to be thus unbelieving? Jesus is their friend. All heaven is interested in their welfare, and their fear and repining grieve the Holy Spirit. Not because we see or feel that God hears are we to believe. We are to trust His promises.” Ellen White in God’s Amazing Grace, p. 216CWe 6.4
