    Whenever you’re engaging in a workout, it’s important to stay positive and not fall prey to negative, self-defeating thoughts or speech. This is the key to remaining motivated and committed to your exercise plan.[99]https://www.journalofadventisteducation.org/2017.2.3CWe 87.2

    Aside from the obvious issues regarding speaking negativity over yourself, negative self-talk will cause you to dwell on perceived weaknesses or comparisons to others, undermining your progress and leading to frustration. Instead of saying “I can’t do this” or “I’ll never lose this weight,” be compassionate to yourself and celebrate small victories, like completing an extra set or just showing up for your workout. If you shift your focus to the benefits of exercise instead of what you’re not doing well, you’ll be able to set more realistic goals and remind yourself that fitness is a journey, not a race. If this approach still doesn’t decrease the negative thoughts in your mind, consider listening to uplifting, Christian music while exercising to keep your mindset positive. Remember, God can make a way out of no way, so trust Him with your process!CWe 87.3
